The Digital Safety for Women and Youth in the MENA region Programme (Salam@) aims to transform beliefs and attitudes toward digital safety, foster public awareness, and strengthen the capacity of women, youth, and CSOs to operate safely online. Under this initiative, the Information and Research Centre (IRCKHF), launched the “Towards a Society Free of Digital Gender-Based Violence” project in 2019 to introduce and advocate for digital safety in the country. The design of the project was based on a study conducted by SecDev on the psychological-social impact of digital violence against women, and girls in Jordan, involving a sample of 525 women and girls. The study revealed that 25% of respondents experienced digital violence.
Building on this, the IRCKHF, supported by SecDev, realized the need to build a strategic dialogue on digital gender-based violence (DGBV) in Jordan by engaging a cohort of Jordanian women who will serve as advocates and agents of change to advocate and speak out against DGBV.
