As part of a national effort to profile and assess poverty pockets in Jordan, the Information and Research Center - King Hussein Foundation (IRCKHF) conducted a needs assessment of eight poverty pockets around Jordan. The main objective of the assessment was to reflect on the socioeconomic reality in each of the eight areas and put in place an action plan for social and economic interventions in participation with the local community in each area. The assessment included three components: I) Profiling of all service providers in each locality (health, education & vocational training, infrastructure, agriculture, economic empowerment, social services, sports & leisure, nutrition, environment), II) Accumulation of existing information from official sources such as the Department of Statistics and various ministries, and III) conducting focus group discussions and participatory needs assessment with constituents (men, women, youth) from each locality.
