Traumatized youth in Jordan – needs, barriers and existing mental health and psycho-social services

Under the Danish Arab Partnership Programme (launched July 1, 2022), IFH and DIGNITY are continuing their partnership with an increased focus on supporting youth (ages 16–35). The program emphasizes capacity building in Jordan and the MENA region to strengthen MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) knowledge, service provision, outreach, referral networks, and south-south training.

To better include traumatized youth in programming, IFH/DIGNITY have commissioned IRCKHF to conduct a desk study on the situation of traumatized youth in Jordan, with attention to their needs and help-seeking behaviors.

The study’s objectives are to:

  • Review and summarize existing literature and reports on youth trauma, MHPSS needs, causes of trauma, trauma exposure, and post-traumatic stress symptoms.
  • Map available MHPSS services provided by local and international actors.
  • Identify gaps and needs to guide IFH’s future interventions with traumatized youth.
