Empowering Civil Society through Media

2018

The overall objective of this roject is to strengthen the role of civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reform, consolidating political participation and representation and having particular regard to women’s rights.

In this project, IRCKHF is responsible for conducting a monitoring of how gender issues are covered online, in the broadcast media and in newspapers.

The activity is designed to respond to the increase in sexism and lack of sensitivity towards issues of gender in the Jordanian media. The goal of the project is to sensitize journalists and editors as to issues of gender. By reviewing terminology and content of reports dealing with women or issues of concern to women and applying to those reports an agreed to gender criteria we will be able to inform and raise awareness of the public at large and the editors on issues of gender sensitivity.

The activities will be for three years.
